to make a nabu, the European currency unit (symbol: Z; see appendix, Units of measurement)
Etymology
< Eth nabũ
< PWald *Nabū́ ‘God of literacy and wisdom’
< Akk 𒀭𒀝
The Mesopotamian god Nabū was equated with Mercury and Hermes and thus became the God of trade and later the namesake of the European currency. The symbol is the Lemizh supplemental letter ‘n’ and is also reminiscent of this god’s symbol, the caduceus or winged staff Á.
