Constellation River (argÌ.)
This constellation, coinciding with our river Eridanus, is a long and winding river flowing south.
The star γ Eridani or Zaurak represents a beaver’s dam (although the Beaver is located considerably farther east), and θ¹, Acamar, the ford where Phaethon fell after his failed attempt to steer the sun-chariot. (See also the Bridge.)
Dalim, the main star of the constellation Fornax (the furnace) is located in a loop of the River. It is often depicted as a house or tree at the top of a hill.

The 152 naked-eye stars

Row colours roughly approximate the stars’ colours. The links lead to the stars’ entries in the SIMBAD Astronomical Database.
The star with negative Lemizh brightness is a variable that is visible to the naked eye when at its brightest, but invisible on average.
